Seeking His Strength- Closer to God Newsletter

When you're seeking strength, where do you go?

Do you rely on self-help books, blogs, or perhaps a quick search on Google?

I hope that's not your first choice.

Our strength from within comes from our creator, and the great thing is He longs to have a deep, meaningful relationship with you.

When we search and find God, He gives us the strength to persevere and overcome.

The tables turn, and everything changes for the better.

Today, we will explore a verse from a renowned shepherd who became a king.

He continually sought God and not only found Him but also gained the strength needed to conquer giants and face other significant challenges in his life.

"Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him."

1 Chronicles 16: 11 · New Living Translation

Here's a Brief Background...

The authorship of 1 Chronicles in the Old Testament is traditionally attributed to Ezra, who was both a scribe and a priest who played a great role in the history of Israel.

This specific passage was part of a psalm from King David, who had a unique relationship with God. Besides being a king, has was also a poet and musician. He was known as a man after God's own heart.

Here, he was celebrating God's strength after he successfully brought the Ark of the Covenant (which held the Ten Commandments) to Jerusalem.

David focused on having a continuous relationship with God and encouraging the people to rely on him, no matter what.

Let's Break It Down...

When times get tough in your life, you may feel weak and you need help; where should you go? Search for the Lord, and for his strength.

We must turn to the One who will help us, regardless of our circumstances.

God is always there, waiting for us to reach out to Him.

It’s important to remember that He is strong in everything He does. There is nothing that is too difficult or impossible for God.

Continually seek him. This concept should be familiar to us. We should seek Him during difficult times and when things are going well. Seeking God is a daily ritual that we should practice constantly.

How Can We Apply this?...

Going to God should be easy; here are some ways to make this a habit:

Depend on Him Daily.

We should rely on God's strength every day rather than our own. When you feel weak or face challenges, remember that your source of strength comes from God. Start your day with a prayer for strength.

Continuing Your Relationship.

Incorporating prayer, scripture, and participation in a faith community into your life strengthens your relationship with Him. Set aside dedicated time for these practices to help you connect with God.

Worship Him and Practice Gratitude.

David wrote this as part of a song. You can incorporate it into your worship and life. Give thanks to God for all He has given you in the past and present.

To Sum it Up...

By inviting God into our daily lives, we pave the way for deeper connections and understanding.

Embracing prayer, meditation, and scripture reading as daily habits empowers us to lean on His support during tough times.

With God’s strength guiding us, we can confidently face challenges and rise above any adversity we encounter, moving forward with hope and resilience!

Here's a Prayer For You...

Dear Father,

I long to seek You more in my life. Your strength is my refuge in the challenges I face today.

With You, nothing is impossible, and I desire to find You in every moment, in all that I do.

Help me make seeking You my greatest habit, my daily pursuit, and my heart’s first desire.

I know that when I seek You, I will find You, and with You by my side, there is nothing I cannot overcome.

Amen.

We should always remember that with faith in God, we are never truly alone.

Seeking Him is more accessible than we realize; it simply requires us to pause and embrace His presence in our daily lives.

Let this message inspire you, and don’t hesitate to share it with someone who may need a reminder of His love and guidance.

My thoughts and prayers are always with you, lifting you up in every moment.

Have a blessed day!
