The Gift of Peace

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

Hello Reader,
Thanks for making time today to prioritize God's Word in your life.
When we think of peace, we think of comfort, stillness, and stability.
To live in peace is a feeling of tranquility, with no troubles or conflict.
Peace sounds pretty great, doesn't it? Well, the great news is that God grants us peace freely.
All you have to do is simply accept it in your life.
We accept what the world offers because we live in it, and we respond to the culture and society that manifest around us, which is unpredictable.
The truth is, Jesus has overcome everything the world can create, and He offers us peace as a gift to embrace when we believe in His Word and put it into practice in our lives.

A Little History...
These are words spoken by Jesus to His disciples during the Last Supper, just before His crucifixion. He was preparing them for His departure and assuring them that, even in His physical absence, His peace would remain with them.
Traditionally attributed to John the Apostle, “the disciple whom Jesus loved.” This Gospel was likely written between A.D. 85–95, later than the other Gospels.
This verse comes from Jesus’ Farewell Discourse, where Jesus offers His peace, not just emotional calm, but the deep, abiding peace of His presence and promise, even in the face of hardship.

How to Apply It To Your Life...
Seek Christ’s Peace, Not the World’s
Jesus says, “My peace I give you… not as the world gives.” The world offers temporary comfort—through success, distraction, or control—but Christ offers a peace that lasts, even when life is messy.
Application: When anxiety rises, pause and pray: “Jesus, help me receive Your peace—not the kind that depends on everything going right, but the kind that anchors me in Your presence.”
Let God’s Peace Quiet Your Fear
Jesus follows His promise of peace by saying, “Don’t be troubled or afraid.” His peace doesn’t remove all troubles—it meets you in the middle of them and replaces fear with confidence in His care.
Application: When fear or uncertainty creeps in, speak truth aloud: “Jesus is with me. I don’t have to be afraid.”
Be a Peacemaker to Others
When you carry the peace of Christ, you become someone who brings calm, compassion, and clarity into anxious situations.
Application: Ask God each morning, “How can I share Your peace with someone today?” It might be through kind words, patient listening, or simply being present.

Let's Pray Together...
Dear Jesus,
Peace is a precious gift from You, and I want to receive it fully. Teach me the way to lasting peace through Your Word, so that it flows from my heart into my actions.
This world—with its shifting values, voices, and uncertainties—feels unstable. But You, Lord, have overcome the world. In You, there is peace that steadies the soul.
Fill my life with that peace, one that brings hope, endurance, and quiet strength. Help me to be a peacemaker, so that through my life, others may also encounter Your peace and the world might become a more loving place to live, serve, and worship together.
Amen.

Let's Put It All Together...
When Jesus left the Apostles, he not only gave them His message, teachings, and examples, but also the gift of peace.
They would not be alone in a world that acts contrary to Jesus' teachings, which promote love and obedience to foster peace instead of conflict and hatred.
We must embrace the peace that Jesus provides in our lives each day.
The problem is we tend to put our faith in what the world gives, not God, and that's why we feel unstable and unsatisfied.
When we receive peace from God, through prayer, faith, and trust, our lives take on an inner meaning that fulfills us, no matter what the world throws at us.
Peace is calming and reassuring.
Jesus promised it, and all you have to do is allow it to fulfill your life.
I hope the peace of God reigns in your life and you're ready to share it with others today.
Have a blessed week out there,
Quentin
